With the advancement of technology the purchase price of a printer has come down to a great extent. But the cost of running a printer has not come down to the same extent. Printer ink amounts to be the most expensive of all printer supplies. But it is possible to save money on your printer ink if you follow these suggestions.
There are many ways of replacing printer ink. You can buy brand new printer cartridges from the printer manufacturer; buy remanufactured OEM cartridges, compatible cartridges or printer ink refill kits. Of all the options available compatible cartridges and refill kits are the least expensive. These offer good value for money and the print is of good quality as long as printing is restricted to black text. Brand new cartridges are the best if you want to printouts of pictures and graphics; but these are also the most expensive.
Buying printer cartridges online will save you a lot of money. There are several online dealers of printer ink and cartridges. These online dealers offer discounts on purchases. Buying online gives you the option of doing your research on the various suppliers and choosing the best discount price. These suppliers will deliver printer cartridges free of cost right at your doorstep, saving you money on traveling and shipping.
If you use your printer a lot, then it is advisable to think ahead of time. Having an extra printer cartridge at home will save you money. If your printer suddenly runs out of ink, you don’t have to go to the retail printer store and buy printer ink at a considerably higher price. Online printer ink dealers offer cartridges and ink at a much lower price than the retail store and there is no harm in having an extra cartridge at home.

Printer Ink – Money Saving Tips

The home printer is a wonderful thing. In a very short space of time we have gone from there being no home printers at all, to most homes having a printer capable of high quality documents, pictures and photographs.
The printing capabilities we now have at home are pretty amazing when you stop and think about it. Even more amazing than this though are the extremely low prices that you can buy a brand new printer at these days. There is however a catch (Isn’t there always!).
Printer manufacturers use a very clever marketing model that can be seen in with many other products such as razors and cell phones. They will actually sell you the printer at a loss just so that they can then sell you ink cartridges at over inflated prices. That’s why if you buy the manufacturers own ink cartridges you will probably be spending $20-30 for a replacement. They make a huge amount of profit on these ink cartridge replacements, which is why they spend so much time and money trying to convince you to buy their ink cartridges. Well we do not think this is fair, so that is why we are going to tell you how you can beat the big manufacturers and save yourself a lot of money at the same time!
There our a few simple things you should do first in order to make the most of your printer ink cartridges.
Always make sure your printer options are set to draft print until you get the printing your final document.
Always choose black and white print if your printing contains no colors, and have black and white printing set for any of your draft documents until you are ready to print the color version.
Of course the ink will not last for ever even using those two handy hints, so read on and learn how to save money when you have to buy replacement ink cartridges.
Purchase a non-branded compatible inkjet printer cartridge. Many reputable manufactures now make printer ink cartridges, but sell them at much lower prices than if you bought the printer manufacturers own ink. Do not worry about lower quality though as these ink cartridges still meet the same standards.
You can purchase a remanufactured ink cartridge. These will have been used ink cartridges collected by a third party company and then refilled and tested. Again these are cheap and still high quality.
It is now possible to purchase ink refill kits that you can use to refill your own printer cartridges. It is possible to refill one ink cartridge around ten times. It is a fairly easy process to do, the only thing you should try and do is refill before all the ink has been used and the ink cartridge has dried out. With the refill kits being so cheap this can be another great way to save money. As well as being cheap it is also good for the environment because if we recycle our existing ink cartridges less ink cartridges need to be produced and then dumped in landfill sites.
Buy in bulk. You will find deals with many online stores if you purchase several printer ink cartridges at a time.
Hopefully these tips have given you some help. It is best to look online for all your ink cartridge requirements, as prices tend to be cheapest.

How To Change Your Printer Ink Cartridges?

Computer printers have become a commodity item in today’s technology world. They cost next to nothing and are given away in many instances. What is not given away is the ink that makes them useful. In many cases, the cost of ink cartridges for the printer can cost more then the printer. Because of this changing the ink cartridges should be done correctly so maximum use of the ink is achieved.
Each is slightly different
Each manufacturer of a printer makes their printer unique so that you need to buy their ink cartridges. Consequently, changing the ink cartridges is slightly different for each printer. There are a few common things to look for but individual printers will vary. Regardless of printer, however, you will need to get to the inside of the printer to change the ink cartridges.
Look for colors
There are usually four cartridges to change: black, magenta, cyan and yellow. To find the cartridges the easiest way is to open the top of the printer and look for a black box. It will sort of look like it could move but in most cases the four color cartridges should be visible in their respective colors within the box. They may be hidden a bit under another part of the printer. This means that you may have to look for a button somewhere on the top of the printer to push for around three seconds. This should move the black box out into the open.
Remove the ink cartridges from the black box. Sometimes a gentle wiggle will loosen them up for removal while in most instances you will need to gently pull or push a lever on each cartridge to have them let go of the box. A fore finger and thumb should remove the ink cartridges from the box. There will be a bit of resistance but not much.
Keep it clean
Take a look around the inside of the box that held the ink cartridges. If you see some residue there or possibly on the old ink cartridge, find a non-linting cloth to clean it up out of the box. This could clog the ports for the next set of new cartridges.
Install the new ink cartridges. Each color should go into the same color slot it came out of. Place them in “heel to toe.” There should be a “click” to signify they are in place. You are just about done. Close up the unit. You may need to push the same button you pushed before to reset the cartridges. Otherwise turn the unit on so it can reset.

Understanding How an Inkjet Printer Works

Computer printers are great when they work correctly, but when they do not work as they should, they can become a real source of frustration. If you know how an inkjet printer works, then you are likely to have fewer problems with it and you are more likely to be able to make simple repairs to the printer yourself.
Inkjet printers are the cheapest printers that you can buy, and because of this many people elect to purchase them instead of the more expensive laser printers. An inkjet printer places very small droplets of ink onto a page that it is printing. The droplets are so small that they are nearly invisible to the naked eye. It is by putting a number of these tiny droplets together that you can see an image or print on your printed page.
The inkjet printer, and other printers like it, never actually touches the piece of paper where it is printing. Instead the inkjet printer uses a series of nozzles to spray the ink onto the page, and thus gives you the final image that you see on the paper.
Since inkjet printers never actually touch the paper they are considered to be “non-impact printers”. Typewriters on the other hand used a solid impact to place the image on the page. The actual shape of the letter or number from a bar on the typewriter would hit a ribbon and push the ink onto the page.
There are a variety of other types of non-impact printers, but many of them are rarely used or are considered too expensive. Often, you can find an inkjet printer for under $50 and this helps make the inkjet printers more appealing to most consumers.
Inside the printer you will find many different parts. The print head is the main part of the printer; it contains a series of nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper. There is also a print head stopper motor that moves the print head back and forth across the paper while printing. A belt attaches the print head to the print head stopper motor, and a stabilizer bar is used to stabilize the print head.
Inside the printer you will also find the paper feeder and the paper rollers as well as a paper feeder stepper motor. The paper feeder stepper motor synchronizes the movement of the paper with that of the print head so that the images that are printing appear on the correct place of the page. Most of the newer inkjet printers are using a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port to connect to your computer, but there are still quite a few older models that use a parallel port.
When you purchase a new inkjet printer, it will come with a disc that you will need to install the software onto your computer. Once you place the disc into your computer it will activate an installation wizard. Generally the installation wizard provides some very easy-to-follow instructions on how to place the software into your computer.
The only hardware that you will actually need to install in the inkjet printer is a power cord to an electrical socket, a cord from the printer to your computer (either a USB port or parallel port), and then you will need to install the ink cartridges, leaving you with only the paper to load.
For people who have never used a computer printer before, the main things they are interested in when learning is how to load the paper and how to replace the ink cartridges. For the average computer printer owner, these are the only maintenance tasks they will need to carry out during the life of the printer.
The actual ink cartridges will vary according to the particular model and brand of printer that you have. Some brands have one ink cartridge for black and one for all other colors; some printers have only one cartridge that contains all colors, including black. Yet, other models will have a separate ink cartridge for every primary color.
When you buy a new printer, be sure and read the box to see if the printer comes with ink cartridges or not. It would seem apparent that every new printer would come with ink cartridges included, but that is just not the case. When you do have the need to replace the ink cartridges, you want to be absolutely sure that you get the correct replacement cartridges. Different brands and models of printers use different ink cartridges. I have found it best to remove the old ink cartridge and check the part number to be absolutely sure that I get the correct replacement ink cartridges for my printers.
If you are willing to buy your replacement ink cartridges in advance of your current cartridges running out, then you can expect to save some big money by buying your ink jet cartridges from internet retailers. Don’t take my word for it, shop around and compare prices. You might be surprised to see how much some of your local stores are marking up these essential computing products.
Knowing how you will use your printer will help you to decide what type of printing paper to purchase. If you intend on printing a large number of photos you may want to get a higher quality photo-paper. If you are a college student using a printer primarily for term papers, then a lower quality paper will usually serve your needs just fine.
You can find inkjet printers made by a variety of manufacturers at a wide variety of prices. You can spend as little or as much as you want on an inkjet printer. Your purchase decision will greatly depend on how you plan to use your printer. Again, if you plan on creating photos or business cards with your printer, you may want to opt for a higher quality model, but if you simply want to print out some papers, then it might make better sense to go with a less expensive printer.

I’ve had many printers over the years. I’ve owned impact printers, bubble jet printers, laser printers as well as inkjet printers. Always try to find the right balance between cost and performance. One thing that I can tell you is that if you do your research before buying a printer you can save a lot of money when you buy a printer. Whether you know it or not, most of the profit in a printer is in its consumables. The printer manufacturers have figured this out and are willing to sell you printer for $20 that should be sold for $200. They know that they can charge more for the consumables and get their money out of you through the consumables. As a matter fact, they can only make a lot more money in this fashion.

Working With An Ink Jet Printer

The home computer has, over the years, become a veritable staple in homes across the world; an indispensable means with which to work, learn, shop, communicate, and entertain ourselves. And along with the computer comes a plethora of accoutrements designed to work in tandem with this great modern convenience. One of which, of course, is the printer. What was once a large, bulky, and expensive item only found in office buildings is now found in every computer-owning home in its streamlined, compact counterpart.
In some cases, finding the most appropriate and affordable printer can be just as time-consuming and confusing as purchasing your computer. But often, printer owners choose from any variety of ink jet printer; the use of which sparks an assortment of personal experiences. In an effort to determine if an ink jet printer is best for you, it is often beneficial to call upon the experiences of others.
First and foremost, in order to understand the increasing popularity of the ink jet printer, it is necessary to understand how it works. Overwhelmingly common in the computer-using home, the ink jet printer – for this use – is small, compact, and yet enormously efficient. Its replaceable ink cartridge contains separate compartments in which each ink color is held. Within these compartments are also small metal receptors that communicate with the computer to which it’s linked. Upon the print selection being made – and according to the colors chosen – a signal is sent to the corresponding ink compartment. In turn, the metal receptor warms, thus heating the ink and allowing it to drop onto the paper beneath. While complicated in its description, the printing function of the ink jet printer is actually quite simple and only takes a matter of seconds.
Users of the ink jet printer often report on its extraordinary efficiency and the high quality of its printed products. In addition to printing quality text, the ink jet printer also prints photos and pictures with quality and ease. Further, as is often not the case in high quality printers, the ink jet printer is actually quite inexpensive.
The popularity of the ink jet printer is also often associated with its size, simplicity of set-up, and its quiet operation.
However, ink jet printer owners will also often tend to complain of its pricey ink cartridge replacements. With the amount that the cartridges need replacement, this can often come as an expensive surprise to owners. Some operators have also complained of the tendency of the ink jet printer ink cartridges to clog and bleed.
Regardless, more affordable ink cartridge replacements can be found with a little bit of research. And, in assessing the relatively few negatives against the positives of the machine, most people find the ink jet printer to be a bargain not to be missed.

Inkjet printers are very inexpensive. They are the type of printer that almost everybody uses. Regardless of manufacturer, inkjet printers produce high-quality printouts in a less amount of time. Inkjet printers use three types of technologies: thermal ink jet, piezoelectric ink jet and continuous ink jet. It depends on the manufacturer which technology is used on a specific printer.
Thermal inkjet uses ink cartridges that have tiny electrically heated chambers where the photolithographic process unfolds. The printer fires a pulse through a heating element to produce the image. A steam explosion process creates bubbles that hurl ink droplets to the surface of the paper producing the printout.
Piezoelectric inkjet also uses ink cartridges. The difference is that instead of using heating elements, it uses piezoelectric crystals. This type of printer allows more flexibility in the use of ink, but it can be more expensive.
Continuous inkjet uses ink cartridges where high-pressure pumps push the ink out of the cartridge. Piezoelectric crystals in the printer head break the ink droplets at a regular interval. The droplets pass through an electromagnetic field where the final printout is formed. This type of technology prevents the nozzle in your printer from clogging.
Whichever technology may be utilized by the manufacturer, the end result is this: an inexpensive printer that uses very expensive inks.
However, there are manufacturers that produce discounted printer cartridges. You can purchase cheaper printer cartridges that are imitations of the real thing, or original ink cartridges that are simply refilled with ink. Keep in mind that these alternatives are not produced by the printer manufacturers themselves. These products can save you as much as 80 percent of the price you pay for authentic cartridges.
The downside to using imitation inks is that they have a higher tendency to leak. And since you are not using authentic ink cartridges provided by the printer manufacturer, the warranty of your printer becomes automatically void.

Today’s printers are heads and shoulders above their predecessors. Inkjet printers can produce stunning, photographic quality prints, while laser printers can spit out paper at a rate of 85 pages per minute or more. In fact, there are so many different kinds of printers on the market that’s it’s sometimes hard to keep track of them all. Here’s a rundown of the major categories:
Color Inkjet Printers: While slower than laser printers, color inkjet printers are also a fraction of the price of a color laser printer. Inkjets can produce exquisite color documents and photos, as well as black and white prints.
Color LaserJet Printers: While more costly than color inkjet printers, laser printers are still a bargain, and often come with several paper trays to give you maximum printing flexibility.
Multifunction Printers: The latest trend is multifunction printers, which allow you to scan, copy, fax, and print with a single piece of equipment. This saves space, money, and time.
Photo Printers: Specialty photo printers give shutterbugs another great reason to snap pictures. These peripherals often allow you to print directly from your computer, digital camera, or mobile device.
Black and White Laser Printers: If you don’t work with color, black and white lasers have never been more affordable. The emphasis is on speed, high print resolution, and multiple paper trays.
Mobile Printers: Mobile printers are gaining popularity among students and business people on the go. While they’re slower than other types of printers, mobile printers have the advantage of printing from numerous sources and often have wireless connectivity capabilities.
What Manufacturers Don’t Tell You
If you haven’t browsed the printer aisle of your local office supply store recently, you’ll be shocked to learn that you can buy high quality, brand name printers for as little as

Deciding which printer to purchase can be overwhelming. There are so many brand names and factors to consider. While a printer may be cheap on the initial purchase, is the cost of ink cartridges going to make it more trouble than it’s worth? How about how often the cartridges have to be replaced? Is the printer is even reliable? What can you find information about all of this? Thankfully a consumer no longer needs to rely on the information provided by a sales person at the store to get a truthful inkjet printer review.
There are several sites out there, including eOpinions, Consumer Research, Cnet, and ZDNet which offer consumer inkjet printer reviews and a numerous amount of other items. These sites allow someone to put down the pros and cons of a product, as well as provide a description of experiences. However, keep in mind that these reviews may not paint a completely accurate picture of a product. While some individuals do go out and post reviews about products they love, it is more likely that people are going to review products they have problems about. For some reason, human nature tends to only been vocal about the worse of a product than spreading the good news about a useful one.
When considering these reviews before buying a printer, pay attention to what it is the consumer is stating as a negative and then consider if that is something that is going to be a problem for you. Some reviewers will give a bad rating for a product because they felt the company’s customer service is poor, but dealing with the customer service may be something you never have to deal with. Also they may rate it poor in the inkjet printer review simply because a USB cable was missing (which is standard practice now) or the sales rep at the store was rude. These negative points don’t really affect the actual printer. Other poor reviews can be given because a computer doesn’t work well with Macintosh computers or with a Windows 2000 operating system.
Another great source for a inkjet printer review is magazines, which also can be found online, like PCMag, PCWorld, or MacWorld. These are more thorough reviews where technology professions test out all the features of a printer and then write an objective viewpoint of how each one functions. They also discuss the printer’s operating software, and if it has any additional features or capabilities. For instance, if a printer does photos, then the reviewers will discuss the quality of photos and the different sizes as well as if the printer offers any other options like bring able to print directly from a media card or from a sheet of thumbnail prints.
